In a previous study by Sudan University of Science and Technology*, it was investigated the above mentioned probiotics and prebiotic yeast and their synergic effect on broiler performance, also a  comparison to antibiotics growth promoter (klavamycin) usage.

Antibiotic consumption had no significant effect (P> 0.05) in feed intake and body weight gain compared to probiotic and prebiotic consumption. Feed consumption and weight gain were significantly (P< 0.05) higher in groups fed by feed included probiotics plus prebiotic. Carcass quality factors such as: crude protein, crude fat, total solids (TS), acidity (Ph) and total number of muscle fiber (T.N.F) were also (P< 0.05) significantly higher in groups fed by feed included probiotics and prebiotic.

It is concluded that using synergy of specific prebiotics plus probiotic in feed as a growth parameter can be an alternative to antibiotics as growth promoter.
